They're Here!!!!!
As a passionate cook, I always look for the freshest, most flavorful ingredients to go into a dish, especially when it comes to the protein of a dish. I might use aioli from a bottle when I don’t feel like processing my own, or use roasted peppers from a jar. BUT! When it comes to steak and pork, I want the best that I can get! (read: afford)
So, this holiday season came and I decided to reward my wife and myself with some goodies from Lobels. I have read some really excellent things about them, so I figured why not give them a try.
You see, here in the Atlanta area, butchers are missing in action. I grew up in Philadelphia; Pennsylvania, not Tennesee, and we always had plenty of butchers. We always went to Sam’s after the grocery to get meats and deli products. What’s up with the name “Sam” and butchers anyways?
Here in Atlanta, I usually get my meats and fish from Whole Foods. They carry a decent selection of dry-aged beef, usually only the strip and the ribeye, and once in a while I can get a dry-aged porterhouse (yum!). But this time I wanted to really treat myself and, of course, my wife, who, as long as it isn’t a tough piece of meat from the super market, she’s alright.
Have a peek inside this parcel of goodness;
What we have here is:
1 (4 lbs.) Natural Prime Boned & Tied Rib Roast
2 (14 oz.) Natural Prime Boneless Rib Steak
2 (6 oz.) Natural Prime Filet Mignon
2 (5-bone) Kurobuta Rack Roast of Pork
1 box of smoked sea salt
This precious cargo was ordered on a Thursday, shipped on Friday and was delivered to me on Saturday around noon. It was packed fresh, not frozen, with reusable ice packs. Nicely done!
Stay tuned! I will be working on these babies very soon.
