White On Rice CoupleIt's great, healthy and flavorful dishes like these that'll get you back in shape, in no time! Of course, exercise helps too.
I (Diane) lost over 30 pounds about years ago because I was experiencing heart pains, not good for a 30 something year old. It's tough, no doubt, to limit all the delicious pleasures in life. But I do want to live longer to enjoy it, so I'm happy with my results. Good luck to the both of you!

RobinI'm with you on needing the culinary 12 step program---it's so hard to eat healthy when you love to cook and bake!

But this salad helps! :>>

HeatherI just got up to ~150 (a 10-pound gain since quitting smoking 6months ago, plus the 5 I gained after I got married). If I had a treadmill or something I would exercise every day! It's the gym that I hate.

That salad looks delicious, but I'd probably still eat it on a huge bowl of lettuce so I could feel like I got to pig out on something. It's unhealthy, but that's how I eat. :-\

NikkiSmoked tomato vinaigrette. I've smoked a lot of things, but tomatoes are not on that list.

That should change soon. I believe you when you say I should make this salad.

DonaldDiane: You? 30 lbs?!! Wow. From your pix on your blog, you would never suspect that. And yeah, I am with the exercise part too. I am still getting through the sore phase.

Grace: Thanks!

Robin: It is hard. Finding good flavor in healthy, low fat foods is a challange.

Heather: I have the treadmill, and the elliptical, and the bowflex, and free weights. It's the garage that's the torture chamber!

Kat: I have another one coming...and another...and another! Stay tuned.

Nik: Yeah, the recipe called for a bottle and I was like, c'mon. Some the maters and make the dressing! I guess the mag thought making it from scratch was too much for most people. And DO make this!

KimYour first mistake Donald was even owning a scale. The second was getting on it. Glad you made up for it with a wonderful looking salad.

sharonDonald, keep making & eating salads like this and you'll be in tip top shape in no time. I can't believe you have a bowflex! I'm a sucker for infomercials and always thought they were amazing look contraptions.

If you really want to go on a diet, stay away from Tastespotting!

cookeatFRETcook eat FRET FRET FRET
bloody hell

by the way - as a friend and fellow dieter, there is a lot of oil in that salad. perhaps, too much. plus avocado. fat is fat. and if you did the calorie count on that yoy might be surprised - depending on how many portions that made. don't hate me, ok?

looks delicious, no doubt...
